And for a source of more mainstream vids ripped at hi quality you may want to check out DaRkFib3r

Something interesting is also happening here. I have recently started using Peer Guardian 2 and that is trying to block access to Musicafe because it doesn't like Performance Systems International-ed2k/ap2p at an IP address of 38.113.185.182:80

Any ideas?

It also helps if you get a gigabit router to connect all your PCs together that way you can fill up all your PCs with big hard drives and the link is so fast (about 1.2GB/min or more) they behave like they on your PC.

DSL became available to me about 6 months ago and I upgraded from my 56k modem immediately. Current speed is 256/128 but I am happy with that to put a reasonable cap on my usage so I don't get an enormous bill each month.

I have already got nearly a Gig of videos just from those links in less than 24 hours.

P.S. another couple of µTorrent search engine links

Just found this today

over 6000 music videos

seeders and leechers don't appear to be great but there is some classic stuff buried in there.

If anyone had told me 12 years ago that I would love listening to someone playing a violin I would have fallen off my chair laughing. Ms Richardson certainly changed that.

I find that limewire has been hi-jacked and is hard to find what you want amongst the bogus search results

Paintbrush as in "M$ Paint" brush

you can find it on most PCs under accessories. Pretty limited, but all I use it for is somewhere to quickly dump my screen captures for converting to jpeg.

I love the video desktop capability of WinDVD

For a general purpose player I would still recommend Media Player Classic with the K-Lite Mega codec pack. It plays almost every video format including .flv (in XP but not Win2K) and 3gp.

If you have got a few .flv videos I would also recommend the Flash Metadata Injector as not all .flv video allow you to scale or scroll through.

A question;

What is the best way to get video clips off copy-protected DVDs and format shift them down to something like .m2v (S-VCD). I can already do everything except the last step but maybe my previous steps were part of the problem

To view pictures I use ACDSee 3 Yes I know it is old but it doesn't try to do everything.

I love being able to scroll though pictures using the mouse wheel and it makes a reasonably good job of handling some really big (375MB) aerial photos that I have without poohing itself or locking up my PC.

for the limited stuff I do, I use Paintbrush and Photoshop 4.

I think I have copies of 7, 8 and maybe 6 but they do a lot more than I need to do.

Also have a copy of SnIco Edit for manipulating icons. Will do up to 60x60 in true colour(XP) as well as opacity and alpha control. Also can be used to create cursors though have never tried this

WinRAR is really useful in that if you have only partially downloaded a rar file you can usually access most of the files contained up to that point.

Great for checking the file you think you're getting is the one you want.

However they used to update it on a regular basis and you got messages to say that a newer version was required.

I have been bored/busy all at the same time and spending most of my meagre internet bandwidth on eMule and in the torrents filling in some holes in my collection Cool

I have recently ripped a few new metal albums for my son to put on his mp3 player but they are probably outside most people's tastes.
